Ravinia Celebrates Chicago as Governor Presents Proclamation

Ravinia Festival President and CEO Welz Kauffman says that Ravinia gets to be the best of both worlds because it’s an international music festival of great repute that also gets to showcase the best of local talent. One of the festival’s favorite groups to bring in is the Chicago Children’s Choir under the leadership of Josephine Lee. The Choir will perform with the legendary soul singer Al Green in his festival debut tomorrow, June 15. Illinois Governor Pat Quinn will present Green with a state proclamation declaring it “Al Green Day.” Then on Saturday, Chicago’s own Fifth House Ensemble makes its festival debut on Ravinia’s popular series of $10 concerts, with its unique approach to storytelling that combines classical music and other art forms.
