Soprano Stephanie Blythe Brings ‘Red-Hot Chicago’ to Ravinia in Kate Smith Tribute

One of the world’s leading mezzo-sopranos,Stephanie Blythe returns to Ravinia to pay homage to one of her personal stage heroes in We’ll Meet Again: The Songs of Kate Smithat 8 p.m. Monday, July 2, in Ravinia’s Martin Theatre. Recommended by Opera News, the concert features the classic “Red-Hot Chicago” from Smith’s Broadway breakthrough Flying High. Blythe, who wrote the show's patter, said, “The hardest thing for me to do during the concert is to stay calm because this music gets me so excited. Part of the reason I talk so much between songs is that I have to calm down a bit before starting the next number.”
