The 2016 Season So Far: Through Social Media (Pt. 4)

The month of August at Ravinia saw a number of high-profile artists and happenings that our fantastic audience graciously documented through social media. Below are some of our favorite moments from the second half of Ravinia’s 2016 season.

Savvy Ravinia visitors who took the Metra (the Union Pacific North Line stops right at our main gate!) were among the lucky few to experience Ravinia-inspired sing-alongs during the commute. Not to be outdone by Dolly Parton fans singing “9 to 5,” Lauryn Hill concertgoers gave a rousing rendition of “Killing Me Softly.”

Best Metra ride. Everyone was singing 9 to 5. #dollyparton #publictransitshouldalwaysbelikethis #ravinia

We knew the Dolly Parton concert would be huge, but nothing prepared us for the immense passion and loyalty that her fans brought to our park.

Smallest drag queen, biggest fan! @dollyparton #pureandsimple #ravinia

The Ms. Lauryn Hill concert was one of the most anticipated dates on our calendar, and she put on an incredible show. A self-proclaimed “biggest fan” was lucky enough to meet her backstage after the concert.

Train and Andy Grammer put on fantastic sets during their back-to-back concerts and brought along some surprises as well. We couldn’t get enough of Andy Grammer posing with some furry companions care of Orphans of the Storm, which brought adoptable animals to the festival.

Whether you were taking it in from the Pavilion or the lawn, Ravinia’s annual Tchaikovsky Spectacular made for an explosive conclusion to the Chicago Symphony Orchestra’ 80th anniversary residency.

@chicagosymphony's performance of Tchaikovsky's "1812" Overture was on fire! 🔥💣

One trend we saw (and definitely encourage) is fans keeping their nights bright and beautiful.

We loved how these Seal concertgoers brought their own Instagram-style photo frame and this coincidental family outing at the Jeff Beck / Buddy Guy concert.

Peak #northshore is finding out your parents are also at Ravinia while you're at #Ravinia.
