Last weekend, Paul McCartney gave fans in LA a treat they hadn’t been able to savor for more than 50 years—in the midst of his Dodger Stadium set, the onetime Beatle welcomed his former bandmate Ringo Starr onto the stage they last shared on August 28, 1966. The two knights jammed to their classics “Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band (Reprise)” and “Helter Skelter” before Starr gave the audience his signature wish of “peace and love.”
This summer Starr is celebrating the 30th anniversary of the first tour with his All Starr Band with the 14th lineup of the supergroup, featuring such musicians as Gregg Rolie of Santana and Journey, Steve Lukather of Toto, and Colin Hay of Men at Work, but he won’t be the only one bringing friends to stage for a two-night-stand at Ravinia on August 3 and August 4. The pair of double bills also includes The Beach Boys, who will feature longtime friend John Stamos throughout the show. Stamos has played guest spots with the band for over 30 years, notably appearing in the music video for the 1988 smash hit “Kokomo” playing congas and other drums.
Lawn tickets and VIP packages are still available for both dates. Though Pavilion tickets may be sold out today, check back at Ravinia.org closer to the concert dates to see if tickets have become available again. Because Ravinia is a not-for profit, fans whose plans have changed may donate their tickets back to Ravinia to be resold.
