This year, the Breaking Barriers Festival highlights women on the podium whose work has broken barriers to inspire other women to pick up the baton—the focus of a weekend filled with music, symposia, films, and conversations.
Wrapped around the box office buildings at Ravinia’s main entrance, all summer you will notice an outdoor exhibit of over 100 notable women conductors. It features women who have taken up the baton over the past century to lead prominent music organizations across Chicago, the United States, and the world. This exhibit can be viewed by anyone visiting the park during the 2022 season.
Our hope is that this year’s Breaking Barriers Festival will inspire more opportunities for women to reach podiums around the world.
