The City of Highland Park will add a new twist to its annual “Martin Luther King Day of Service,” starting at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, January 21, at the Recreation Center of Highland Park, 1207 Park Avenue West. The City will kick off its sesquicentennial celebration by establishing the 150 Service Projects Campaign whereby the community will collaborate on 150 different service projects over the course of 2019. Ravinia staff will be present at the event to collect used music instruments that will be cleaned and refurbished for distribution to current music students who cannot afford new instruments. Check all closets, basements, and attics for band and orchestra instruments that need a new home and drop them off at the Ravinia booth next Monday. Unfortunately, only easily portable instruments can be accepted.
