Ravinia Festival is pleased to announce a new broadcast series in partnership with WFMT. The eight-program, limited-run series “New From the Ravinia Festival,” brings listeners new performances recorded at Ravinia — without an audience — this summer. Beginning August 6 and continuing on Thursday evenings at 8:00 pm, the series will be broadcast alongside WFMT’s encore broadcasts of highlight 2019 Ravinia performances, which airs on Mondays at 8:00 pm.
“Even though we can’t be together in our concert halls this summer,” Ravinia Festival president and CEO Welz Kauffman expresses, “we still want to bring music from Ravinia to our fans. With the help of our WFMT friends, we are bringing listeners some of the best musicians right to their homes.”
WFMT general manager and vice president George Preston adds, “We know [our audiences] are going to enjoy these programs… especially during this time when in-person performances have been curtailed.”
The series ranges from solo piano staples of the American songbook, to a curated vocal program by mezzo-soprano Michelle DeYoung, to a recital by the Chicago-based Lincoln Trio, who share chamber music by Beethoven, Brahms, Haydn, and Chicago composer Stacy Garrop.
